Results of TAFs Rio de Janeiro Mission
Trip
The Americas Foundation's November 1999 Mission Business trip to Rio Janeiro was
a success because of what we accomplished during our brief visit to Rio Janeiro.
The purpose of our trip was to:
1. Inform about The Americas Foundation (TAF), promote La Casa de las
Americas in Washington (LACAW) and the District of Columbia,
2. Establish strategic alliances and partnerships with certain Rio Janeiro and Brazilian
organizations and entities to jointly plan and develop a variety of programs starting in
year 2000, such as: Mission Business /Government trips; University Students Internship and
Leadership development programs; Trade, Commerce, Tourism, Investment, Technology
Transfer, Cultural, Youth and Sports programs, including celebrating the Brazil 500 Years
Anniversary within our " La Casa de las Americas" Gift Fund at the Smithsonian
Institution; Sister Cities program; and,
3. Offer TAFs facilities, expertise, valuable relationships, including our strategic
partners in Washington, DC, across the US and Latin America to help anyone address and
solve their needs and or accomplish their goals.
The following are the names of the officials and their organizations we were able to meet
with in Rio de Janeiro, thereby, allowing us to start exploring organizing specific
potential programs and events with each of them, and the basis and benefits for their
establishing strategic partnerships with TAF and LACAW:

We attempted to meet with several other persons and officials, unfortunately for various
reasons, the time factor primarily, made it difficult to do so in this trip. We did
establish communication with numerous other officials via telephone conversations on
certain specific areas.
TAF thanks the following University students for helping us in the logistics of our
meetings and other details during our visit to Rio de Janeiro: Dennise Soares,
Nelly Martins, Ana Paula Gama, Ricardo Gandara, and Juliana; students in
Communications, Computer Science, International Relations, and Law.
Also we thank Continental Airlines and ALTEX,
the sponsors of this trip; along with PressCell that
facilitated our cellular telephone communications in Rio Janeiro.
The above meetings and relationships developed in Rio Janeiro opened a synergy of
wonderful opportunities for anyone interested, particularly the Members and
friends of The Americas Foundation and all other organizations and
entities involved. TAF will followup on the work we started in Rio with our various
strategic partners to enter into the planning and implementation stages of specific
programs and events for the benefit of those actively involved and the people of our
communities.
TAF and LACAW invites anyone interested in the above program with Rio Janeiro and Brazil
or any of our other programs, projects, or events to please communicate with us. Please
inform us of your specific interest, comments or suggestions. We invite you to actively
join with us and partake of the benefits our results will accomplish.
