TAF was invited by the Chairman of the Commission, Bud Lane. TAF raised the issue of the total lack of Hispanic representation in the Commission, and that except for TAF there is hardly any other community organization active with the Hispanic community in Ward 2, compared with other Wards, such as Ward 1. Ward 2 is no providing the support nor resources to Hispanics as other Wards. TAF stated the need and benefits to outreach to the growing Hispanic community in Ward 2. And, proposed a plan of action to successfully address this issue.
Hispanics are a significant and growing number in Ward 2. They are hard workers, law abiding, tax contributors. There is a growing number of Hispanic business in the District, with no support from the government representative. TAF reminded the Commission that taxation without representation is no democracy!
