The Americas Foundation invites you, your friends, relatives, colleagues to become actively involved in
different ways with our Foundation, as a -sponsor, donor, contributor, member,
participant, volunteer, intern, mentor, strategic partner, member of committees - in one
or more of our PROJECTS, PROGRAMS AND EVENTS.
Some of our Accomplishments Projects Programs and Events We Continue to Work on

1. Empowerment -Agents of Change Americas Internship
and Leadership Development (AILD)
Bringing groups of motivated university students, young professionals from Latin America
countries and from around the U.S. to Washington, DC
2. La Casa de las Americas in Washington (LACAW)
Development to build LACAW. Organizing numerous events throughout cities of the
Americas to promote the concept, to show its wonderful benefits for everyone, and to
serve as fund raising.
3. Americas Business and Affairs Council (ABAC) Speaker Series on Capitol
Hill
Our invited speakers are US Congressmen, Ambassadors, CEO's, academician,
mentors and many others.
4. "Hemispheric Forum" TV program produced and
distributed on DCTV Cable Channel 25, 10
and Latinovision Canal 58 in the Washington Metropolitan Area and some markets in the US.
It is the voice and video of our Foundation to inform, educate, empower, network, promote
business international trade, tourism...
5. ACTETWORK Centers
Americas Computer Technology Training to Work Centers program, directed to Hispanics,
youth
and adults. Our goal is to get Hispanics and Latin Americans be computer office literate,
and to get them office
related jobs or help them start their own small business with their added advantage:
bilingual ability.
6. ABAC's Business and Government Mission Trips
Mission trips to certain Latin America and Caribbean cities, involving US Congressmen,
Mayor of
District of Columbia and other to promote international trade, tourism, investment,
technology transfer, diversity understanding, culture.
7. The Americas Heritage Festival
Celebrate and recognize Hispanics and Latin America contributions to the U.S.
Fund raising for LACAW and other TAF programs
8. The Americas Awards Recognize the best Hispanics and Latin
Americans.

Americas Media Internet and Email Network, a vehicle to help our people achieve

Market and "sale" Bricks with the name of the donor in each brick, a fund

program to build LACAW

18. Acculturation into "Mainstream" America
Help Hispanic and other immigrants to enter Mainstream America, without losing
their rich cultural roots.
19. Volunteers and Interns
Continually seeking to engage motivated individuals to assist us in the implementation
of our program and events. Great experience, opportunities, global networking.
20. Fund raising, Endowments, Capital and other
Continually working to seek and secure needed resources to allow us to implement our
ambitious programs, projects and events.

23. Sister Cities Program
Contribute to develop Sister Cities between the District of Columbia and other cities in
our Hemisphere and elsewhere. To promote international trade, globalization, diversity
understanding, tourism, culture, children and youth programs.

It will replace our newsletter The Latin Quarter News existing since 1991.

US Congressman Bob Filner to Speak at TAF's Monthly Series on Capitol Hill
US Congressman Bob Filner will be speaking at TAF's Monthly Speaking Series at Capitol Hill on August 19, 1999 at 3:30 PM; The Gold Room, 2168 Rayburn Building of the House of Representatives. Congressman Filner will speak on "Hispanic Latinos and 'La Casa de las Americas in Washington' -Their Importance to California and the US."
Congressman Filner represents San Diego, California; is the ranking member of the Veterans' Affairs Benefits Subcommittee, and a member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee in the 106th Congress. Additionally, Congressman Filner is an enthusiastic supporter Honorary Founding Member of "La Casa de las Americas in Washington."
Smithsonian
Institution, AGF, Casa de America & Museum -Madrid Conference
Dr. Paul Taylor of the Smithsonian is
organizing with The Americas Foundation, Casa de America and Museum of
Anthropology of Madrid a Conference in Madrid. The conference has two components: A
high-tech workshop on September 15, 1999; and an academic component on September 16 and
17.
The Conference will take place at Casa de America in Madrid, Spain.
Iberoamerican Cultural
Attaches Association invites TAF
Dr. Alvaro Rodriguez Tirado, President
of the Iberoamerican Cultural Attaches Association is inviting The Americas Foundation's
president Victor Pinzon to make a presentation to its members on July 15, 1999 at 2:30 PM
at their meeting at the Uruguayan Embassy.
Pinzon will present a specific multi-point proposal to the Cultural Attaches to assist
them, under the Foundation, to achieve some of their goals and objectives in
Washington, DC and throughout the United States.
