If Hispanics
-including indocumentados- put 18% of the braved dead in the Iraq War, Hispanics
in the US must get similar percentage of the U.S. direct contracts in rebuilding
Iraq.

Elections, funds, and media publicity during political elections.
To avoid undue monetary
advantages to promote a candidacy over other candidates, we suggest the following:
whenever certain candidates do not have the funds to match the advertisement campaigns of
other candidates, then the corresponding media should provide equal time at no cost to
the candidates unable to pay. There must be equal time and space opportunity to all
candidates in campaign advertisement.
Equal opportunity is critical to maintain democracy. Money should not buy political
positions!
Media here, I am referring to Radio and Television primarily, because their medium of
broadcasting (air waves) is owned by the people - which is a national resource.
The following is a brief perspective
of some past decisions of The White House impacting Latin America and the Caribbean:
Mexico. Unprovoked invasion in
1840s leading to the Guadalupe Hidalgo Treaty. The White House with its invaders
forced Mexico to give up its vast territory to the US: Texas, New Mexico, California.
Spanish American War
Reportedly the blowing up of the US gun boat "The Maine" was done by US
operatives in Havana Bay to ignite the short war against Spain as part of the Manifest
Destiny policy of The White House.
Panama: Noriega
El Salvador: devastating war in the 1980s
Honduras: devastating war in the 1980s
Guatemala: Arbenz and Armas in 1950s
Nicaragua: Somoza dictator and his son
Haiti: Duvalier and his son
Dominican Republic: Rafael Trujillo and his son
Venezuela: Romulo Betancourt
Chile: Allende assassinated and democracy killed with Pinochet coming to power. The plan
reportedly was choreographed by The White House and its CIA
Argentina: The White House supported England in Malvinas war; negating its own Monroe
Doctrine.
Cuba: Batista and Fidel Castro
Colombia: the planning and implementation of Panamas break from Colombia early 1900
as part of Manifest Destiny.
The Monroe Doctrine as a component of Manifest Destiny, Gun Diplomacy: "Talk softly but carry a big stick:" is a White House warning to Europe and the rest of the world not to meddle in its Latin America and Caribbean back yard and stronghold.
Numerous wrong, short vision, tunnel vision White Houses policy decisions have historically harmed and crippled the economic, social, educational and economic political development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Individuals in the local governments
in Latin America and the Caribbean have in general administered their countries more to
please Washington, the White House, the World Bank and other powerful entities in
Washington than to benefit their own people or countries. In many cases, historically,
individuals in those regional governments reportedly have sold their decision making
authority, to the detriment and against the interests of the people of their countries, to
satisfy Washington, The White House, influenced by the powerful economic interests of a
few multinational corporations.
It is long overdue that we at the United States develop and implement a sound, realistic
and mutually benefitial Marshall plan like program in Latin America and the Caribbean,
based on equal opportunities for all, contributing to develop true effective, strong,
modern, transparent democratic governments. The result of this program will be a brilliant
and wonderful future, full of opportunities and growth for the peoples of the United
States and most important -the rest of the Americas.
Hispanic Americans
Substantial Contributors
Historically, Hispanic Americans have been and will increasingly continue to
substantially, with their constant hard work, paying taxes, contribute to the vital
economic strength and growth of the United States.
Hispanic Americans send vast and valuable aid resources monthly, annually to their families in Latin American and Caribbean. There are certain opportunities being lost in the process, as governments and certain private sector players benefit directly, with the absence of a strategic plan directed to spread the benefits of said family donations.
TAF offers to be the agency or vehicle of choice for Hispanic Americans to send their money to their countries, as part of a proposed strategic plan.
Help us research and investigate the
amounts of money sent to each country, monthly and annually.

The White House -African
Americans and minorities labor
Reverend Jesse Jackson recently said in Washington, DC that the United States for over 200
years exploited slave labor; and we add historically has an ongoing mandated low minimum
wages for all minorities. We need to turn this around. Provide a decent minimum wage to
give pride and equal opportunity to the have-nots or those barely making it with
back-braking jobs. We must overcome the ongoing huge income and wealth accumulation
disparity. Let us give everybody a fair chance and equal opportunity. The result will be a
stronger and dynamic growing society.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Company and private sector profit motive is a just and acceptable goal. But it is also
just as important the goal to give back to their markets, to their customers and to their
communities where their sale their goods and services in the spirit of corporate social
responsibility.
The private sector has a debt to their communities to offer equal opportunity, fairness and assist them to achieve economic, educational and political empowerment, particularly to the disadvantaged communities. In the end, the private sector will substantially benefit as the market size grows with those who historically have been economically disadvantaged and underproductive. As the have nots are given the opportunity through training and newly developed jobs available to them to produce, become productive and get a decent wage. Then, they will have disposable income to purchase goods and services, thereby increasing the revenues and profits of companies and businesses. Even, the government will benefit through higher tax revenues from the newly engaged in the productive economy, reducing thereby most of the welfare programs.
We must teach people how to fish, rather than given to them the fish!
Illegal Drugs
The White House has been authorizing expenditures, reportedly, of nearly $100 billion
annually to fight illegal drugs. The drug business and culture has been destroying the
fiber value and culture of numerous societies, towns, cities, and countries. Including the
US and countries like the authors country of origin: Colombia.
This fight has been going on for over the last 20 years, and it may continue to go indefinitely, unless a courageous evaluation and proper, realistic policy decision is made to truly solve the problem at its root
Questions
1. Is the ongoing
White House policy effectively working?
2. Are the nearly
$100 billion a year, of our hard earned money and resources, well invested or
spent in the on-going drugs-war?
3. Should there be a
fundamental review of the current policy?
4. Would eliminating the illegal profit margins, along with a massive
and constant education
campaign about the effects of consuming drugs
win the war?
Europe and Latin America /
Caribbean
Democracy vs. Royalty
It is the authors view that every human being is created equal, we are fundamentally
the same, same body parts and with similar needs and wants, regardless of country of
origin, social condition or any other constraint. Of course, the social and economic level
at which each individual starts his or her life varies; and additionally, each person has
a different level of intensity and motivation to get the results or satisfaction he or she
seeks in life.
Every human being is or should be his or her own sovereign. This concept of universal human sovereignty goes against royalty and other political systems with titles of nobility, as still practiced in Europe and other countries.
In each society group, each and all the members of that society group should be free and have equal opportunity to identify, develop, and elect as well as to remove their administrators and political leaders, within effective, well informed, participative electorate democratic process. Administratively experienced professionals should manage our governments, much like most successful modern corporations.
Equal and Interdependent Regardless
We are all equal, interdependent, need of each other to grow economically. The more people
are in the market to buy products and services, the more everybody benefits and wins.
Given similar and equal opportunities of education and work; higher reward should accrue to those who excel because of their harder level of work and or creative, innovative work.
Anyone willing, motivated to work harder and longer hours and performing daily with more enthusiasm, dedication, perseverance; or simply working smarter, creatively, innovatively within the law, fairness and ethics deserves to receive the total fruit of his / her labor, rewarded, recognized and compensated accordingly.
Washington's Mayor Candidate Kevin Chavous pledges better Services for Latinos
We thank Mr. Chavous for stating his specific vision for Latinos in the1. Investing in small business development
2. Increasing homeownership
3. Creating a multi-purpose service center in Columbia Heights
4. Increased operating and capital support for Bell Multicultural High School
5. Developing an international tourist center pavilion near the Columbia
Heights Metro Stop.
He said no new revenues will be needed to pay for
his proposals. Mr. Chavous
also said he would appoint Latinos to his cabinet and ensure that city
employees get needed language and sensitivity training.
However, we say that is not enough! It is a good start in a political campaign. But definitely falls substantially short of the just and fair outreach to empower the Latino community which the new Mayor of the District of Columbia must focus on and act immediately upon his/her election, and even start right now as candidates.
Latinos are and will be the fastest growing ethnic
community in the District
of Columbia. Latinos historically have been and continue to be discriminated,
disadvantaged, and under represented by the Mayor and the District's Government.
Latinos are hard workers, law abiding citizens and
residents, substantial
contributors to the economic growth, vitality, and tax base of the District.
We, as the Founding Fathers of our Great Country, say that taxation
without representation is no democracy!
What has Mr. Chavous (and each and all of the other Mayor candidates) done for
Latinos during his more than five years in District Government?
We demand high level jobs and appointments to all of
the District of
Columbia's Boards, Committees, and Task Forces of professional qualified
Latinos with business and technical backgrounds; and Latinos whom are
community oriented, whom truly reach-back to their community. Also the Mayor
and District Government must provide jobs at all levels of District Government
for Latinos, as well as business contracts for latino businesses. The
appointments, employment, and business contracts rate of Latinos should
reflect their population component of the total District's population -which
currently is about 9 percent.
Additionally, a strategic plan must be developed and
implemented immediately
to truly start empowering the Latino community of the District of Columbia.
The Americas Foundation has developed a strategic plan to contribute to
accomplish said goal. There may be other Latino or other organizations which
may have their own comprehensive proposals. The Mayor and the District of
Columbia must allocate the needed resources and political will to accomplish
that desperately needed goal. Our demands herein are not only just and fair,
but track existing federal laws and statutes.
La Casa de las Americas in Washington
® offers a synergy of opportunities to anyone and everyone.
NOSOTROS MISMOS DECIDIMOS SI QUEREMOS CONT!NUAR DEPERDICIANDO OPORTUNIDADES!
de The Americas
Foundation, se unan activamente y contribuyan o donen para lograr la
implementación de
nuestros
programas y proyectos para el beneficio de nuestra gente.
