Americas
Small Business Entrepreneurs Series
-They Tell Their Stories in
Their Own Words on TV
Our Americas Small
Business Entrepreneurs Series is one phase of our Hemispheric Forum TV
program designed to feature Hispanic and other entrepreneurs to encourage them to tell
their stories in their own words.
The Hispanic audience has been and continues undeserved. It needs
current and proper information and education media programs to contribute to bring them
into main stream of life in America.
Hispanics residing in the District of Columbia and Metropolitan
Washington area contribute substantially to the areas economic development and
growth. Hispanics are hard working, strong family oriented, law abiding and pay
substantial taxes. Hispanics purchasing power continues to grow at a fast pace. In 2000,
Hispanics purchasing power was about $4 billion in the Metropolitan Washington area
and over $450 billion across the country. However, Hispanics continue being taken for
granted, ignored by Government officials of the District and of the Metropolitan
Washington area. Our Foundation seeks to contribute to overcome this unfair situation by
not only continue to produce but expand our Hemispheric Forum TV program. Additionally, we
seek to inform and educate the non-Hispanic American community about the Hispanics in the
US, and about Latin America and the Caribbean -contribute to bring our rich diversity to
work and live together.

After having initially
produced its "Hemispheric Forum" TV program in Miami, Florida,
Americas Global Foundation, AGF, re-introduced it in Washington, DC. AGF started the successful
recording of its unique TV program on Monday, October 18, 1999 at the TV Studios of DCTV,
Cable TV, channel 25.
Hemispheric Forum is a TV program designed to address and offer solutions to some
of the major issues, needs and challenges facing Hispanic Latinos in the United States and
also the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Hemispheric Forum's mission is the same as that of The Americas Foundation,
which includes contributing to the economic, educational and political empowerment of our
people in the Americas. This is done through now, the four arms of the Foundation:
programs and projects, legislative agenda, special events, and its media: Hemispheric
Forum TV program, its website and The Latin Quarter News.
We produce Hemispheric Forum in Washington, DC -the worlds capital of
political policy, the seat of government, and a wonderful cultural and historical site,
second to none. However, we will produce Hemispheric Forum in other cities or
sites around the world.
The host and director of the program is Victor Pinzon, professionally supported and
assisted by William Walker as the producer and President of Faith Productions, Naomi
Kinney, Joel Rambo, Sherelle Williams, and Diego Grajales. AGF thanks DCTV Public Access
Corporation for allowing us to start producing our program in its studios and to broadcast
Hemispheric Forum in their Cable Channels 25 and 26.
Our first guest was Mr. William "Bill" Nieto, the highest ranking Hispanic
official in the US Department of the Interior at the National Capital Region's National
Park Service. We addressed numerous issues in this first program, such as:
Unacceptable under representation of Hispanics in the Federal government, particularly in
the top decision making positions, and our on-going efforts to overcome this
situation
Great losses caused by the historical and on-going polarization of Hispanics by country of
origin and steps we are taking to contribute to overcome it
US Census 2000; how Hispanics be fully counted and why Hispanics should fully participate
Hispanics critical participation in the 2000 Presidential elections
English proficiency and "mainstream" America -the basic tools for Hispanics and
other immigrants to the US personal development and success
Diversity understanding and outreach to the other major ethnic groups: African Americans
and Asian Americans
Establish a strategic partnership between National Park Service of the National Capital
Region and AGF
Our ambitious, almost impossible but doable project to build, La Casa de las Americas
in Washington and some of the possible programs and events AGF and the National Park
Service may organize together to contribute to make said dream a wonderful reality.
Desperate need for the public and private sectors, particularly Corporate America to
contribute with the resources to help NGOs, such as the Foundation, achieve the
goals stated
Some additional ways AGF works to overcome these and other major challenges are:
Addressing, investigating, analyzing and offering solutions, communicating them to anyone
who could help and benefit from the results.
Inviting our audience to join us to spread our message, to network, to contribute, and act
to help implement our programs and projects, achieving the results we all seek.
And, most significantly inviting and engaging the public and private sectors to
effectively show their social responsibility to the Hispanic community of the United
States and the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean by sponsoring, donating, and in
general contributing resources to making these programs and events a success for all
involved and for the people of the United States and of the Americas. We offer a package
of benefits to sponsors, donors and contributors.
First Broadcast. Hemispheric Forum first broadcast will be
November 1999. We will be informing the day and hour within the next few days. We plan to
offer the program on a weekly basis. Initially, it will be shown on DCTV Cable Channels 25
and 26. We plan to distribute the program to other cable TV, PBS stations throughout the
United States, and anyone interested in carrying it.
Hemispheric Forum welcomes your comments, suggestions and fee-back. Additionally, we offer exciting local, national and hemispheric opportunities to volunteers, interns and anyone interested in becoming an active member of a dynamically growing global network. You may communicate with us via email, phone or fax at the offices of the Foundation.
