Managed supplier diversity investment totaling $291+ million, maintaining a 5+% average (of a total of $5.4 billion in domestic procurement spending) in a severely contracting business era…FY 2002 is on track to nearly 5.9% of a projected $1 billion domestic procurement spending
Strengthened supplier diversity advocacy and reporting systems in complex large-scale supply chains…assisted in development of NMSDC 2nd Tier Guidelines…advisory board member of NWBOC… member of Technical Committee of WBENC
Pioneered and expanded supplier diversity initiatives in non-traditional public/commercial arenas…championed and won top executive commitment to partnering with service-disabled veterans organizations and the service-disabled business community
Identified and orchestrated relationships with qualified diverse suppliers for “big hits” high-dollar volume including subcontracting to a minority-owned firm for the corporation’s copy machine and supplies contract and outsourcing of parts repair distribution center to a woman-owned firmed
Won program recognition…
NMSDC 1998 Virginia regional council’s “Corporation-of-Year” award
Virginia’s 1998 “Executive-of-Year” recognition for the President of Unisys’s Federal Systems
Virginia’s 1999 “Minority Business Advocate-of-Year” award for Unisys
2001 finalist in Virginia’s Minority Input Committee Corporation-of-Year evaluation
2001 finalist in New York New Jersey regional council’s “Corporation-of-Year” award
2001 nominee for WBENC’s America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises
1998-present
Challenged to expand opportunities in Unisys Corporation’s supply chain
for MWBE enterprises…the existing program was rooted in a legacy of affirmative
action initiatives and was seen as altruistic socio-economic development rather
than business development…it was focused on meeting federal public policy
requirements and not on the emerging requirements of commercial non-government
interests…the thrust of the program in 1998 was on high-profile public relations
with less emphasis on substantive programming
Leveraging advances in web-enabled technology…for example, sponsoring a web-enabled MWBE site (b2bdiversity.com) that serves as Unisys Corporation’s electronic registration tool for potential MWBE suppliers… the site has been instrumental in attracting 3500 registered MWBE businesses
Spearheading development of distance learning and virtual trade fairs to broaden the reach and effectiveness of programs
Pioneering the design and development of an introductory mini-CD-ROM and electronic instructional brochure on marketing for minority and women-owned businesses
Planning/executing 12 showcase events that have attracted MWBE participants and focused on one-on-one business counseling…developing and rolling out programs that have attracted minority applicants and interns from HBCU institutions
Raising the profile of supplier diversity and sustaining advocacy for it by developing a laminated card for training participants providing a desktop reminder of diversity acronyms, the supplier diversity business case and why it’s important to the ongoing success of the corporation
