Orlando is called the
Worlds Capital of Tourism.
Orange Countys 1996 budget is about $1.5 billion.
Orange Countys population is about 800,000 people.
Hispanics represent about 17% of Orange Countys population, of which more than half
are Puerto Rican.
The Hispanic population in the Grater Orlando area is projected to grow to a staggering
83% in the next 10 years, to over 400,000 by the year 2006.
"The integration of the Hispanic community in the 'mainstream' is a major goal. It is
said that unlike other areas of the mainland, Central Floridas Hispanics are putting
aside some of their cultural, political, or individual differences and have pledged to
work together - not only to improve themselves but to be a vital and energetic part of the
community," said Linda Chapman, Orange County Chairman
