Americas Students Washington Immersion Program, ASWIP
Americas Internship Leadership Development program AILD                           Volunteers

Americas Global Foundation, AGF, program ASWIP is a version of AILD, consists in bringing to Washington, DC groups of 15 or more students from different cities of the US, Latin America, Caribbean, Spain, Portugal and other countries. The purpose of ASWIP is our contribution to develop well rounded leaders, our leaders of tomorrow that we desperately need in this great and wonderful changing world. Leaders both, in the US and in the rest of the Americas.

AGF in its initial phase will bring students for a period of 2 weeks Washington Immersion program. The agenda includes to show students, engage them in the overall experience of the unique life protocol and procedures of the some aspects of the United States government -the world’s foremost political, economic, scientific and high-tech country.

In the second phase of the program, AILD, we will offer Internship programs of 3 to 6 months. The Internship program will involve work with AGF and also with a wide array of entities in Washington, DC.

A detailed agenda of program activities include visits and briefs at the White House, US Congress, some federal agencies, multilateral organizations, cultural aspects and brief introduction of “mainstream” American life. Work will involve familiarization of some AGF’s programs and projects, as students will automatically become AGF members

Thus, students will enter into a lifelong network rewarded with a synergy of opportunities AGF will provide them, assisting them in their future professional development.

The students we seek are those highly motivated last year of high school, but primarily college and university students. The frequency of the program will initially be one group per month. The number of groups and frequency depends upon various factors, including the speed of the respective universities and colleges in the cities and countries willing to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, and an agreement with AGF.

AGF seeks to establish strategic alliances with universities and government officials in cities throughout the Americas, Spain and Portugal to implement its ASWIP program. Any one interested in this program please contact us. We are ready to proceed to enter into agreements and implement the program for the benefit of all involved and for the peoples of the Americas.

Any student or community leader interested in the ASWIP program please contact us.

Leaders and ethics

By Victor Pinzon
What leaders say about ethics is important. People should watch more closely and take to task their leaders. The more we talk about ethics, the stronger they will become. Talk is a starting point. Then, we all should watch our community’s and country's leaders carefully and constantly to confirm that their behavior reflects what they say and or promise.

There are two key functions of leadership: set limits and give direction. Our leaders must set limits by taking concrete steps to, among a myriad of issues, eliminate corruption in government and business. Then setting direction by talking and developing a comprehensive Code of Ethics to be adopted and implemented by everyone. And, the most significant component is that leaders themselves become the ethical role models of the community at all time.

Paul Ransom, Founder of the Adirondack School for Boys, wrote:

"The people in this world may be divided into three great classes, according to the attitude they hold to life. The people in the first class believe, or seem to believe, that they were put into the world to see how much they can get out of it…

"The people of the second class is made up of those who do not give life any thought at all – who do not like to think very deeply of anything…

"The third class are people who believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it… They believe in work and are anxious to do their share of it. They do not shirk the great problems of life, but meet and solve them. It is to these people that the world is indebted for all the progress that has been made in the past, and to them it must look for all hope of progress in the future."

Paul Ransom went on to say to his prospective students that only if they sincerely wanted to be counted among the third class of people, would they be invited to attend his school.

Our leaders must clearly be those of the third class, who are prepared to meet and solve the great problems of life, including attacking and eliminating corruption and building a strong ethical community and country. When their talk is proven by their behavior, others will want to join and follow them.

Victor Pinzon and Americas Global Foundation, similarly as Paul Ransom, invite only those people of the third class to join Americas Global Foundation and "La Casa de las Americas in Washington."
