RE:    Americas Heritage Festival in Washington, DC Sponsorship

Dear Ms. Sanchez:

We, at The Americas Foundation, TAF, per the suggestion of Mr. Mitchell Torton of Continental Airlines in Washington, DC hereby invite you and Continental Airlines to sponsor the unique Americas Heritage Festival

Specifically, with this event, TAF offers your Continental Airlines a unique opportunity to strengthen and expand its market position in the Metropolitan Washington Area and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as within the Hispanic communities across the country. Furthermore, TAF’s mission to promote cross-cultural engagement, communication, and international trade, our Festival offers a unique juxtaposition of cultures and commerce opportunities to your company. Because of TAF’s continued efforts, numerous programs and events, it has been successful in garnering the endorsement of many of Washington’s, our nation’s and our Hemisphere’s public and private sector senior officials; as well as establishing strategic alliances with organizations across the cultural spectrum.
TAF’s Festival will focus on Hemispheric trade, technology and travel--bringing together our diverse hemispheric communities. TAF recently participated in the World Internet Conference in Santiago, Chile at the invitation ICANN. TAF’s increasing involvement, exposure and visibility within the international telecommunications arena affords us enormous opportunities to similarly maximize Continental Airlines’s leverage within the domestic, Latin American and Caribbean markets. Thus, allowing us to contribute to promote your firm with increased consumer awareness, tourism, and trade. Your sponsorship will help to assure the success for all participants and the achievement of the Festival’s purpose.
The purpose of the Americas Heritage Festival is multifold, as follows:
    1. To celebrate the rediscovery of the America’s--highlighting North and South                   America’s rich and diverse cultures in the new millennium
    2. To bring us - the diverse peoples of the Americas - to work and live together in              harmony
    3. To launch the project to build "La Casa de las Americas in Washington"®,                 LACAW
    4. To support LACAW’s Children and Youth of the Americas programs
    5. To support “La Casa de las Americas” Gift Fund that we recently established at the           Smithsonian Institution
    6. To promote the District of Columbia throughout Latin America and the Caribbean;           and within the Hispanic community throughout the United States

We have been working on the planning and logistics of the Americas Heritage Festival for over two years and the Festival is a fundamental component of our ambitious project to build “La Casa de las Americas in Washington”.

Your endorsement and financial contribution will help assure the success of the Festival, and in turn it will allow us to contribute to strengthen your market presence in our diverse hemispheric communities. So, please join us in this wonderful undertaking supporting TAF at this critical stage of the project. Let’s start the institutionalization of a wonderful Americas Heritage Festival in Washington, DC as we prepare to enter the new millennium.

We offer five levels of sponsorship for the Festival and attached herewith is the corresponding package of benefits for each level. We will consider cash and “in-kind” goods or services for your sponsorship.

Since time is of the essence, we look forward to your kind reply before September 10th.
