"United States Conference of Latino Mayors" USCOLM
Americas Global Foundation
Organizing First
USCOLM
Victor Pinzon, President/
Founder of Americas Global Foundation, (AGF), after having communicated
with more than 14 US Latino Mayors and gotten their support announced and invites all
US Latino Mayors to actively participate in the First
“United States Conference of Latino Mayors," USCOLM, to take place in
Washington, DC.
The purpose of AGF’s proposed “U.S. Conference of Latino Mayors in Washington” is multifold, including:
Ø To invite the Latino Mayors of the United Sates to Washington to at least a major Conference each year, starting 2004
Ø To meet each other to come together to establish a strong united voice and an effective network
Ø To address and seek solutions to common needs and issues
Ø To address some of the common cultural and other characteristics
Ø To meet with, communicate and exchange with, establish and strengthen relationships with Federal government officials of the U.S. Congress, White House, Departments/ Agencies, multilateral organizations, Ambassadors, etc.
Ø To become more familiar with the unique Washington’s process and protocol
Ø To address and solve certain specific needs or issues Mayors may want to consider
“I believe that the your initiative is timely and has merit. Thus, I support it, encourage others to support it and participate as well,” said The Honorable Joe Celestin, Mayor of North Miami, FL.
We suggest selecting a Mayor as Chairman for each of four Regions of the Country and Puerto Rico for a total of five Chairmen. The five Regions would be: Northeast, Southeast, Midcountry, West and Puerto Rico Regions.
The guidelines for Chairman are basically their commitment and enthusiasm to contribute to make this Conference a success. Our plan involves additional programs that the Conference will enable us to implement for the benefit of the Mayors' constituents as well as the Latino communities around the country and Latin America.
AGF, founded in 1991 in Miami, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, nonpartisan, think-tank, NGO organization based in Washington, DC whose mission is empowering historically excluded Hispanics and others in the U.S., Latin America and beyond. AGF has acquired a keen knowledge of the Washington process and protocol, receiving significant recognition, through its always growing and strengthening relationships in the U.S. Congress, White House and elsewhere.
Through extensive research, AGF has developed a thorough understanding of the sensibilities, idiosyncrasies, needs, challenges and the substantial value of our rich diversity. Most importantly, AGF has translated this understanding into the development of numerous exceptional programs and events with a goal of breaking down the barriers that keep Hispanics from achieving the valuable results and rewards we need to thrive, even as we help people everywhere.
We are living times of great changes and challenges that offer a synergy of opportunities for those actively associated with AGF. The combined team efforts will enable us to succeed empowering people everywhere.
“Your unique program to organize the United States Conference of Latino Mayors in Washington has the support and sponsorship of CocaCola” said Mr. Rudy Beserra, Vice President Latin Affairs of CocaCola North America
