The Americas Global Foundation’s (AGF) Capitol Hill Speaker Series seeks to address U.S. policies impacting Latin America and the Hispanic community in the U.S. At this spirited, insightful, honest, even controversial forum, at Capitol Hill, we wish to discuss the realities and roles of a region and people, starting with concerned Hispanics, whose substantial contributions are critical to the continued economic growth, stability and security of the United States and Latin America.

AGF’s Goal of the Town Hall Meetings at the US Congress
The goal of Americas Global Foundation organizing the Three Town Hall meetings at the US Congress is manifold. It is to raise the awareness of numerous critical issues; invite dialogue, suggestions; and offer solutions to said issues. Some of those issues are:
Ø Role of Hispanics in the Andean Free Trade Area Round Table Negotiations and all other FTA negotiated or signed between the US and Latin America
Ø Intellectual Property and Patents
Ø Agriculture
Ø Telecommunications and High Tech
Ø Health Pharmaceutical and other
Ø Textiles
Ø Investments
Ø Latin American natural resources and value added
Ø Education, Jobs creation and entrepreneurship development
Ø Obsolete destructive Colombian and other Latin American bureaucratic regulations to start, register reporting manage specially small businesses
Ø Free and FAIR Trade Agreements and implementation
Hispanic Americans one of the major players, because of many factors and substantial contributions, have been and continued to be excluded and ignored, perhaps even discriminated, by the governments and official negotiators of said trade agreements.
AGF -a Hispanic and Latin American oriented nonprofit, NGO, based in Washington, DC- has, as a result of over 15 years of studied, research, investigation, investments, and much more, developed a comprehensive strategic plan with specific proven programs ready to be implemented in the region.
Said
strategic plan and programs have been designed to contribute to strengthen not
only Free Trade Agreements between the USA and the Andean and Latin American
countries but to effectively spur creation of new jobs, entrepreneurial and in
strong, sustainable economic development to help Latin America enter not only
the USA but the global market.
Hispanics’ Role
What id the role of Hispanic Americans in the Andean Free Trade Area Round Table Negotiations and all other FTA negotiations and even those already signed between the US and Latin America?
Hispanics’ investments
contributions to Latin America
The following are
some of the reasons Hispanics are critical important to Colombia, to the Andean
countries and all Latin America:
Ø Possibly the best and largest single Investor group not only Remesas/ Money Transfers
Ø Tourism -Hispanics visiting their countries of origin and others
Ø Other investments
Ø Technology transfer
Ø Retirees taking with them or receiving their pensions
Ø Importers/ Exporters
Ø Travel
Ø One of the best markets in the USA for Latin American products and services
Ø Other
Remesas/ Money Transfers
Hispanics are sending (investing?) about $40 billion a year and growing in Remesas/ Money Transfers
Ø What is the rate of return of said investment, if it were a normal type investment?
Ø What incentives, benefits, rewards do the benefiting governments, business, private sector and all other benefiting from said Hispanic remesas (investment) are they offering, providing, giving back to one their “best client”? They offer package of benefits to other foreign investors? Why not to Hispanics?
Ø Which Companies, business sectors have been and continue benefiting profiting from this Hispanics’ $4 billion in money transfers?
Ø
How and what
are those entities showing their corporate social responsibility giving back to
their client Hispanics?
Other Value Hispanics in the USA offer
Ø Hispanic vote and advocacy in US Congress and elsewhere
Ø Impact on US Congress approving or not Andean and other FTA Negotiations/ Agreements
Ø Over 40 million constituents –not all vote but are residents in critical Congressional Districts
Ø Hispanic population nearly 44 million and growing
Ø Hispanic purchasing power about $900 billion annually and growing
